Kaptain Carbon Similar to the already discussed Vinter, Winterblood rests on the minimalist angle with sounds and tones filling the space making the absence of sound just as interesting at when it is filled. With songs that stretch into the 10 minute range, the patience of Winterblood is a strength as songs become sabbaticals in ice kingdoms.

I SIGNORI OSCURI

Li ho visti lasciare la terra per l’isola che chiamano ‘la Fortezza’. Nessun uomo è mai riuscito ad entrarvi; un vento minaccioso scoraggia i curiosi… Possibile che questo luogo sia così impenetrabile? E’ certo che nessuna orma lasciano sulla neve; forse è il vento che cancella ogni loro passo. Vorrei sapere, vorrei sapere… Vorrei sapere quale sentiero hanno seguìto, così certi, così sicuri, nel buio della notte. Tuttavia nessuno vede. Noi qui seduti al sicuro nelle nostre piccole abitazioni, incuranti di quel fuoco nel bosco, ci sentiamo al riparo dal quel vento maledetto. I rami si abbassano appesantiti dalla neve. Ad un vecchio ho costruito un bastone sicuro, gli ho chiesto di restare, ma ha sorriso ed è scomparso nell’oscurità. I nostri occhi meravigliati hanno visto rompersi il ghiaccio ed una cascata scendere fino a valle. Li puoi vedere? Osservano gli strani disegni che il fuoco lascia nell’aria, nel cielo. Legati formano un anello. In un luogo remoto, nascosto, condannato all’oscurità, un uomo trovò il centro del suo labirinto impenetrabile.

Released on the New York label Ephem-Aural in late November of last year, making I Signori Oscuri less than two months old. Not sure how many editions were created, but they are currently available from Ephem-Aural. Winterblood, is an Italian project with a vast discography, one reason this release sounds incredibly brilliant. Formed in 1996, there is much to hear and read on the bandcamp page.'
