Psalm of the Lonely Gatekeeper-
The sad song the gatekeeper sings every day, if you stand close enough to his valley gate you can hear him sing it aloud. This is how he shows the gods gratitude for keeping him safe while he fulfills his oath of honor and glory.
A Warrior's Solemn Prayer to the Battle Gods of Yore-
While scouting from atop of his gate tower one evening the gatekeeper spots an army marching towards his gate, he cannot distinguish who's flag it is marching towards his gate but in the end it matters not his oath is to stand and protect this gate at all costs, for he is the strongest and most fierce warrior of his people, and the last of his line of kin. He has no time to call for aid, only time to say one last solemn prayer to the battle gods of yore to watch over his blade.
One Verse All, I Shall Show No Fear and Fulfill My Oath-
The time has come, the army is at his gate, they must pass through the valley leading up to it and that will only allow for 4 of the soldiers at a time, this puts them at a disadvantage against the gatekeeper. Drums of war pounding away, the battle rages through the night amidst the storm and the rain he fights. His blade finding throat after throat, gut after gut he cuts them down, his shield takes blow after blow, hit after hit, how much longer can he last? alas he falls and the small remainder of the army crawls over him and slams into the gate. His eyesight fades, the rain feels good against his hot face. He can rest easy as he has fulfilled his duty. Dropping hundreds of the army before they could finally bring him down means the military of his home village will be able to defeat what is left, he closes his eyes and lets Odin call him home to Valhalla. A true warrior. A true legend. The Lonely Gatekeeper dies with a smile upon his face...
