It will have taken a long time to arrive beyond the deserts, a wandering king is back to reign over his kingdom, but would he be a black spirit returned from elsewhere ? Discover the pyramids, rediscover the temples lost in the rocky valleys, but watch out for the lost mummies in the sarcophagus. Let yourself be carried away, the eye of Horus will protect you throughout this far journey. Where the sun appeared behind the horizon of the burning deserts near the royal tombs along the Nile, a long expedition with great myths of Egypt, the spirits of ancient times awaits you, the sunrise on the Old Kingdom.

REVIEWS:
• Kraykulla Webzine:
"I first learned about and started to listen and love dungeon synth through my friend Kktz (Tenebrositas, Talog) who sent me couple of releases and this was an ideal meditative and music for my darkened heart besides black metal. In time, I explored the scene and found out some really magnificent entities and releases. Skhemty hails from France and its theme is musical exploration of ancient Egypt, its mystic and mystery. But Skhemty also manages to create... atmosphere of medieval Byzant and Middle East in its musical direction and this album is a keeper. There are eleven songs on this opus and what immediately comes to mind, songs are not too long or repetitive to become boring, quite the contrary. This is an epic and emotional dark journey filled with almost cinematic enthusiasm and a bit of melancholy and sadness. Great album for all you dungeon synth/dark ambient fiends out there. My personal favorites are Golden Age, Mirage over the Dunes and Ancient Ruins in the Desert."

• Invisible Oranges:
"Come with me to Ancient Egypt! Skhemty (Pschent) is "the headdress of the later Egyptian pharaohs formed of the two crowns worn by the respective pharaohs of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt before the union of the country under one rule." Skhemty is also the name of a French artist who also is behind the cosmic project Weress. Sunrise on the old Kingdom is a fantasy project embracing the exotic locale of Ancient Egypt as it exists in most imaginations. The music of ancient Egypt has, for the longest time, been a source point for mystical reconstructions and because of the lack of actual musical source material, what exists is creative estimations. Sunrise on the old Kingdom is another creative estimation, though the artist is more interested in the fantasy of the region rather than musical history. Skhemty joins the traditional sounds of Middle Eastern music with a dungeon synth backdrop taking the fantasy of ancient Egypt and making something entirely new. While one can get caught up in the cultural implications of a project like this, Skhemty approaches this subject matter as others have approached medieval Europe and taken partial truths and partial fiction to create an entertaining and immersive experience."

• Scholomance Webzine:

• Lines in Wax:
"What a time to be alive! Sunrise On The Old Kingdom is one of a few releases I checked out, and is probably the best of the bunch, at least in regards to active instrumentation and overall production quality. Tracks such as “Pyramid of Khafre”, “Dendera Temple”, “Mirage Over The Dunes” and closer “Glow On The Nile” really show off the best elements of this project. Don’t go in expect standard ambient music with a few rehashed Arabian themes, like when a foreign town is shown on a TV show, these are fully-fledged compositions and deserve your full attention."
