Additional Details
A scholar who works in a scriptorium one day finds a magical manuscript. At first, he is astounded by the layout and calligraphy. He returns home to translate and notate but the parchment begins to glow. The script begins to transform into a humanoid creature. It leaves the scholars house, and causes mischief in the nearby town. The shapeshifting script manages to evade the detection of the scholar, although it returns to his house that night. In a panic, the scriptor explains the situation to his abbott, who orders that the script be burnt. The scholar, while frightened by the magic of the manuscript does not wish for it to be burnt but studied further. After another encounter with the shapeshifting script, he learns that the ink used is golden. Curious as to how the manuscript came to be, the scholar researches records of the area he found it, finding old letters of events. He learns that a pagan chieftan had himself ressurected into an ecclesiatical script of gold they stole from a nearby monastery. This was believed to be a legend. He suspects Satanic interference and fears what may come. Before he returns to the abbott, he is apprehended by knights and taken without trial to be burnt at the stake, under suspicion of partaking in sorcery.
