Additional Details
We proudly present the new Psyclopean / Visions of Ulnahar split release influenced by the Lovecraft short story Poetry And The Gods. Strange soundscapes evoking half-forgotten twilight dreams permeate this incredible album by two of the leading artists in the genres of cosmic dark ambient and nostalgic dungeon synth. Soaring retro synths and darkened drones join to take the listener on a mythical weird fiction journey.
The music style of this album (and several other Psyclopean albums) is an off-shoot subgenre known as We-Fi, or Weird Fidelity, primarily pulled from the aesthetic of weird fiction authors like Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Algernon Blackwood, and others, mixed with the psychedelic sounds found within late 60's and 70's prog rock and Berlin School-type vibes. The style attempts to capture a surreal lo-fi dark ambient musical narrative laden with the nostalgic tones of dungeon synth, retro documentaries, and the hazy textures of a half remembered dream of pot smoke-filled basements covered in black light posters of dragons and wizards.
